Style weekly round up...

I thought that since I spend a good portion of my free time sauntering around the internet seeking out menswear-concerned things, that I'd start doing this round up of my favourite images to grace my Macbook's screen in the last 7 days. Use this as an inspirational tool if you will. This will showcase some of, what I feel are, the most stylish gents that I've seen around the blogosphere in the past week. Let's go...

Decomposition

Death has been an on-going theme in my artistic practice as a filmmaker for a number of months now with some of my favourite pieces centering around death and clinical examination. Alongside this I have become increasingly interested in the manipulation of time, which brought me to this piece I'd like to share. The work is titled "Decomposition" and was created by artist Carlos Tourné.

The video tracks the subtle decomposition of what, one would assume to be a freshly deceased male lying on an autopsy table. The transition from living being to decaying vessel is a startling realisation that only becomes present to the viewer towards the second half of the piece. Only towards the very end of the work does one become aware of how time has been used so effectively to track this decomposition. The subtlety of the transition is incredibly thought provoking and leaves one feeling somewhat lost and in awe.

Brands: 3sixteen

3sixteen originally began life in 2003 as a strictly streetwear brand. But over the last few years, this American based company have become a brand that makes and sell quality basic pieces and what I've heard as being the best value jeans on the market. Luckily for us, they have now began distributing to Europe. From the images from their latest lookbook I can definitely say that I'll be wanting to try out some of their gear sooner rather than later.

The Zacuto Great Camera Shootout 2011

Last year, the renowned filmmaking accessories company, known as Zacuto, launched a web series on their site entitled "The Great Camera Shootout". In 2010 this principally focused on our beloved HDDSLR's that I would safely say the majority of us independent filmmakers now use for our work. The series focused on putting a number of HDDSLR's through a series of rigorous tests to find out just how much the camera can achieve.

Cheap Monday S/S '12 Runway Video

Cheap Monday is a brand that has really blown up over the past few years. From mainly creating jeans, they now do both mens and womens clothes, and introduce their Spring/Summer 2012 collection here with a variety of pieces from lightweight jackets, button-downs, and brilliant t-shirts. I own a couple of pairs of Cheap Monday jeans, and they are two of the best investments I have made in clothing. Durable, stylish, and comfy. To take a closer look at some of their items, pay a visit to an Urban Outfitters store.

Adidas Gazelle (Maroon/White)

For my first post, I thought I'd share some footwear I recently purchased. I fell in love with these Gazelle's as soon as I saw them, primarily because I have a strong liking for burgundy/maroon as of late, but also because of their shape and comfort. Coming in suede and with optional white laces, these trainers bring that awesome balance between style and comfort. I wore them for the first time to a BBQ last night with chino shorts, and will probably find myself wearing them with jeans mainly in the coming months (they really do go well with anything). You'll struggle to find them below £60, but they are well worth it in my opinion. Definitely a pair of trainers I'll be sure to keep box fresh for as long as possible! Get yours from Offspring HERE.

Barbour Lidsdale Track Quilt

As it seems to be the case every year in Britain, summer has never really got going this year. The weather hasn't been able to make up it's mind and before we know it, we're now bearing down on Autumn. Rain, wind, cold... So for my first post on this great new section (thanks to Tom for getting me involved), I thought I'd scour the web for some of my favourite outerwear pieces for the coming months at a range of styles and price points, so hopefully there will be something for everyone.
