Skylar Grey has been making big moves in the music scene over the past 18 months, providing hooks for Love The Way You Lie (Eminem & Rihanna), Words I Never Said (Lupe Fiasco), I Need a Doctor (Dr Dre & Eminem), and I'm Coming Home (P.Diddy), writing with musicians all over the scene from Avril Lavigne to Marilyn Manson, and performances at various festivals alongside Eminem and others, including Lollapalooza.
On August 22nd she played her first London show at XOYO in Shoreditch, to a packed and enthusiastic crowd. Emerging hooded and shrouded in mystery, she danced around the stage, took to guitar and piano, choked the bassist, and even snuck Radiohead's Creep as an intro to her own Weirdo. Her fourty five minute set was concluded by a medley of hooks and verses the mainstream have held so dear over the last year, which Soul Culture have filmed and uploaded here . The new songs are darker than the songs you've already heard, the energy is certainly unlike any you've seen from Skylar before, and the basslines are thick.
She currently has some music released in the US - Dance Without You (single), Invisible and the Dance Without You Remixes, with UK release dates still be be determined.
You can listen to the remixes below:
