Jake Isaac - War Child EP

Jake Isaac is one of those rare talents whose voice is not only soulful and refined, but also arrestingly honest. Once you’ve had the pleasure of meeting the unassuming singer-songwriter from South London, however, this sense of openness ceases to be a surprise, because Isaac is as humble as he is talented.

Mikill Pane - Blame Miss Barclay LP

Since bursting into the spolight thanks to his feature on Ed Sheeran's 'Little Lady' back in 2011, Mikill Pane has needed no extra help to create his own unique fan base and a unrivalled take on UK Hip-Hop. The London-based rapper has released a string of EPs over the past two years, all of which touch on his diverse musical influences, but his debut full length LP truly epitomises everything that this guy is about. 'Blame Miss Barclay' isn't just another album - it is a ground-breaking piece of music from an arist who's lyrics and ability to tell a story are quite simply flawless.

Mikill Pane - Dirty Rider EP

Having toured with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks & Mac Miller, along with plays from some of Radio 1's most loved DJ's, and a first headline tour of his own, it's safe to say that Mikill Pane has had a pretty decent 2012. However, the London-born rapper isn't done just yet, today releasing his major label debut EP 'Dirty Rider', which is a follow up to the free 'You Guest It?' EP from April this year.

Global Gathering 2012

Following my first year at Global Gathering in 2011, it was without doubt the first festival down on my list for 2012, and with the first signs of a long overdue UK summer peeping through on Friday morning, it was once again set to be the best weekend of the year. The journey was a bit of a nightmare, as it was last year, with the shuttle buses being the most frustrating part, but before we knew it we had landed on site and the sun was beating down on thousands of festival goers. Some of the biggest names in International Dance music were on the line-up and ready to destroy numerous diverse sounding stages at the iconic Long Marston Airfield site in Stratford upon Avon.

Parklife Weekender 2012

June has arrived, which can only mean one thing, festival season is here! First up was Parklife Weekender (June 9th-10th), which is one of the UK's only city-based festivals and is set in Platt Fields Park, Manchester. With my sister (Emily Coxhead) living in Manchester, she came along with me to take all the photographs used in this review and provided me with a bed for the weekend, due to the event being a non-camping affair. As far as UK festivals go, Parklife boasts one of the best line-ups of 2012, with legendary headline acts Chic & De La Soul blessing the main stage - I was hoping it wouldn't let me down, and it didn't, not one bit.

Mikill Pane - You Guest It EP

Although Mikill Pane has been around for quite some time, it was only January 2011 that saw the 26-year old rapper get his break, with his hard-hitting storytelling ability on 'Little Lady' with Ed Sheeran capturing the hearts of countless music fans across the country. Since then he has gone onto release two extremely unique EPs on iTunes ('The Morris Dancer' & 'The Guiness & Blackcurrant'), performed a brilliant Live Lounge for Huw Stephens/Radio 1, continued work on his forthcoming debut album ('Blame Miss Barclay') and is now ready to release this, the 'You Guest It EP'.

Welcome to The Warehouse Project 2012

After many months of speculation and anticipation, Easter weekend saw The Warehouse Project open the doors to their brand new Trafford Park venue, for two nights of the very best in House music. Friday welcomed a stellar Progressive line-up, including Eriz Prydz, Axwell, John Digweed & Joris Voorn, with Sunday playing host to Loco Dice, Claude Von Stroke, Julio Bashmore, Heidi, Maya Jane Coles & many more. Store Street has been an iconic place in Manchester's history over the past 5 years, meaning the new venue had a lot to live up to, but thankfully it did, in emphatic fashion.

Nina Nesbitt - The Apple Tree EP

8 months ago Nina Nesbitt was a 17 year-old singer/songwriter from Scotland who was uploading videos to YouTube and basically going through the motions - now in April 2012, she has just finished supporting Ed Sheeran on his first European tour, will be supporting Example on his first UK arena tour and is set to release her full debut EP 'The Apple Tree' in two weeks time. Although it was her covers of the aforementioned Sheeran & Gleave that shot her into the spotlight, Nina is a fabulous songwriter in her own right, and that is what that shines through more than anything on this wonderful body of work.
