Introducing: David Stewart

Since the release of 'Watch The Sun Come Up' in 2009, David Stewart has been known by most as Example's guitarist/vocalist, but 2012 sees him take to spotlight as a solo artist for the release of his debut single/album. I recently caught up with the young singer/songwriter to chat about a wide variety of topics, including touring with Example, his musical influences as a child and what we can expect to hear from him over the next 12 months. Follow David on Twitter HERE.

Introducing: Mali

During August of 2010; Chase & Status released the first single from their extremely well received 2nd album (No More Idols), which features 18 year old soul singer Mali. Not being a huge fan of reality shows I had very little idea as to who he was, but for those of you that are, you may recognise him from the 2008 series of X-Factor, which saw him get through to Simon Cowell’s boot camp. He must have seen something special in him then, and Will & Saul obviously saw something special in him last year to get him on board for such a huge release. His voice is simply breathtaking for someone of such a tender age, and having met and seen him perform live on a couple of occasions, I think it’s safe to say that this guy has quite the career ahead of him. After the jump you can hear more about his music taste, what we can expect from the debut album and an interesting alternative career choice. Follow him on twitter HERE.

Introducing: Mikill Pane

Mikill Pane is rapper from London, who most of you will know from the Little Lady track which featured on Ed Sheeran’s collaboration EP that was released last month. Lyrically, he is streets ahead of most rappers in the world right now, and his unique voice, flow and approach to rapping mean that you can’t mistake him for anyone else, although people have likened him to Mike Skinner. I first came across him because of his Twitter chat, but I’ve become fascinated in his music as time has gone by - he is definitely one of the most under-rated UK artists right now, and I hope he starts to get the recognition he deserves. Below you can hear my favourite track, Golden Times, and after the jump you can hear his thoughts on working with Ed, comparisons with other artists, quitting Uni 4 times and much more. BOOM!

Introducing: Homeboy Sandman

Angel Del Villar II, better known as Homeboy Sandman, is a rapper from Queens, New York. He grew up in NYC and attended boarding school at New Hampshire’s Holderness School. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently enrolled in law school at Hofstra University - he then withdrew from law school during his third year to pursue his career as an emcee, and now has a discography including 3 exceptional albums and 2 brilliant EPs/mixtapes. This was the best decision he could have ever made, as he has slowly become one of my favourite rappers in the world. His style, flow and general outlook on Hip-Hop and life as a whole is unique and totally refreshing. Below you hear one of my favourite tracks from his latest album, The Good Sun, which is entitled Calm Tornado, and is produced by Thieven’ Steven. After the jump you can see the insightful interview, where he talks about the thought process behind his videos, the use/non-use of Twitter/Facebook, possible collaborations with Mystro & Ty and much more.

Introducing: Shad

Earlier in the week I caught up with legendary House producer Richard Earnshaw, but now it’s time for Canadian MC, Shadrach Kabango, better known as Shad. Throughout the past 5 years he has released 3 rather special Hip-Hop albums since winning $17,500 from the 91.5 The Beat’s Rhythm of the Future talent competition, during his time at University. He is everything that I love about Hip-Hop - exceptional beats, clever lyrics and relevant topics. A lot of people compare his style to that of k-os and Common, which is a testament to both him and his music. Below you can listen to my favourite track from his 2010 album, TSOL, which is entitled ‘At The Same Time’ and hit the jump to see what happened in the interview.

Introducing: Richard Earnshaw

Here is the first in a new series of interviews, which is aimed at introducing you lot to some of my favourite people in music. First up is Richard Earnshaw, who is a British DJ and producer that has a musical past more interesting and diverse than most. Last year he released the eagerly anticipated debut album In Time, where he brought a club-veteran guestlist to his House/Jazz album, which for me is perfection in music. Below you can find one of my favourite tracks from the flawless album, Worthy, which features Soul legend Jocelyn Brown. After the jump you can see what happened when I caught up with a very busy Mr. Earnshaw.
