A lot of thought has gone into the concept and the production of this album and it shows. If you are a Jay-Z fan then this is a must have for your collection. It will be better than most of the Remix albums you will have ever downloaded. I will be listening to this, a lot.

True Ingredients - Who's Next?

I received an e-mail yesterday with information on a UK Hip-Hop group who go by the name of True Ingredients. Being totally honest - I had no idea what to expect. What I got was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2010 so far. The main surprise being the fact that I have never heard of them before this. Amazing.

With a funky, soulful and fresh sound - True Ingredients from the outset reminded me very much of the Brand New Heavies, but lyrically better. It’s very rare in this day and age to find a group like this who are creating Music which makes you smile. Their uplifting sound, look and style encapsulates you from the very start of the Video and this alone makes you want to learn more about them and find more material for your ears to enjoy. I personally went and bought the EP as soon as I had finished listening to the track for the first time - it now has 21 listens in my iTunes after a 9 hour stint in the library last night (Plasmapeople’s Remix is gonna be a summer anthem of mine). I then delved further into the world of True Ingredients to find that they are the first artist or group to ever release their album on a pair of Sunglasses. Intrigued? So was I.

I’m fascinated by them as a group and can’t wait for my shades to arrive so I can listen to the album. I shall keep posted! For now; listen to the Single below - enjoy and support good Music!

Jamie Jones @ Plastic People, London (16/04)

One of the coolest men in the world has delivered one of the coolest mixes I have ever heard in my entire life.

I went to see Jamie J on NYE at Back 2 Basics in Leeds, but this Mix is nothing like what he played on that night. A Funky, Soulful and Uplifting sound with a lot of Hip-Hop and 70’s Disco influences evident throughout its entirety. I wish I could have been there to see him play this set; however I can deal with having to listen to it over and over and over again in my headphones. Genuinely one of my favourite DJ’s around right now - he never ceases to amaze me.
