Hip-Hop Classic #15: Raekwon & Ghostface Killah - Heaven & Hell (Chosen by Lily Mercer)

'Heaven & Hell' is the lead single from Raekwon's debut solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, which was released in 1995 on Loud Records. The track features Rae's fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah and backing vocals from Wu-Tang affiliate singer Blue Raspberry - it is also produced by the legendary RZA and contains a sample from 'Could I Be Falling In Love?' by Syl Johnson. The single reached #4 in the Hot Dance Music Chart in 1994 and #21 in the Hot Rap Singles in 1995 - the album debuted at number four on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart, whilst selling 130,000 copies in its opening week. OB4CL went on to become certified gold in 1995, and according to Nielsen Soundscan, it has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States alone. Classic single from a classic album.

Lily Mercer: "How dare you send such a difficult question via e-mail so casually! It took me a good day to think of my answer, but I chose this. Classic in every sense of the word"
