Hip-Hop Classic #39: The Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy (Chosen by Chris Ramsey)

'Juicy' is the debut solo single from The Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album 'Ready To Die', which was released in 1994 on Bad Boy Records. The track was produced by Poke of Trackmasters & P. Diddy, with the melody being sampled from Mtume's 'Juicy Fruit'. It reached #3 in the US Hot Rap Singles and peaked at #27 in the US Billborad Hot 100 Chart, but many Hip-Hop fans believe it to be one of the greatest rap songs of all-time, and many would have trouble arguing otherwise.

Chris Ramsey: "Love what this song is all about. That first line "it was all a dream"; he never thought he'd make anything of himself... I did my first ever TV appearance, a set on Russell Howard's Good News, then BLASTED this tune in my car on the drive home... like a right prick."
