Hip-Hop Classic #41: Cam'Ron - 357 (Chosen by CJ Beatz)

'357' is the second single from Cam'Ron's debut album 'Confessions Of Fire', which was released in 1998 on Untertainment/Epic Records. The track is produced by Darrell "Digga" Branch & Lance "Un" Rivera, and features a sample of the classic 'Magnum P.I. Theme' by Mike Post. The video sees Cam & Ma$e running through the streets of Harlem, but the track only managed to reach #88 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and didn't manage to make the Billboard Hot 100. However, it's still a big track, from a great album.

The track is produced by Dr. Dre & Mel-Man, and Eminem claims it is essentially about suicide, which is believed to be him mocking his own experiences in 1996. Throughout the song he also mocks unsuitable role models, who people will mimic regardless of the things they do.
