Emergency services were called to Sankeys nightclub on Radium Street in Ancoats at around 2.30am this morning. Two men and two women were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment. One woman discharged herself while a 19-year-old woman and two men, aged 19 and 21, were kept overnight for observation. Their condition is not thought to be life-threatening. Police believe they collapsed after mixing alcohol and ecstasy tablets. The club is a long established Manchester venue, first opening as Sankeys Soap in 1994. It was renamed as Sankeys six years ago and was voted the number 1 club in the world by readers of DJ magazine in 2010. Detective Inspector Julian Flindle, said: “At least four people have suffered the ill-effects of mixing alcohol with what we believe to be ecstasy, and while they were treated in hospital, thankfully there are no major concerns regarding their health. "No doubt there will be a few people who were in the club last night who are not feeling particularly great today, but if anyone did take ecstasy or any other illegal drugs and is concerned please seek medical advice. “I would also ask anyone who might have information about anyone selling drugs in or around the club to call me or my team.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 3540, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
