A1 Bassline - Buoyancy

After a number of well received EPs on his own label over the past 12 months, A1 Bassline has just released his debut single on Claude Von Stroke's impeccable label, Dirtybird. I used to be a huge fan of A1, but have started to lose to touch with his material as I've slowly lost interest in Bassline/Electro music; however, this release is stunning and is definitely the sound that CVS is into at the minute. Hopefully this will widen his audience and is the direction that he is going to go with in the future, because it's a huge look. Get your copy HERE.

Following the release of his well received Dollop EP, Get Flavour signee Deebs has put his own unique twist on Lauryn Hill's all-time classic, adding some funky head nodding bass, chopping up the enchanting vocals and showing everyone how a bootleg should be done. The masked magician SBTRKT has let his new single go for free. Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon provides some chilling vocals over a stereotypically exceptional SB wobble. His self-titled debut album will be released over Summer.

Knowledge Of Good And Evil

Sexy and incredibly talented. Here is my favourite track from Esperanza Spalding’s new album, Chamber Music Society. Proper Jazz music.

Chamber Music Society is Spalding’s follow up to the 2008 release, Esperanza, which sat atop Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart for over 70 weeks.

Backed by drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and pianist Leo Genovese, Spalding draws from her classical training from her younger years and creates a modern chamber music group that combines improvisation with elements of jazz, folk and world music.

The album also features percussionist Quintino Cinalli, violinist Entcho Todorov, violist Lois Martin, cellist David Eggar and Gretchen Parlato on voice. Milton Nascimento makes a guest appearance on one track.
