Shame
Yesterday was Jill Scott’s birthday, and today we get the lead single from her upcoming album, The Light of The Sun. Featuring her fellow Philadelphia native, this is one of the best Soul tracks I’ve heard for a very long time.

Homeboy Sandman > your favourite rapper right now. He is lyrically on another level.
Here is a superb little re-edit of Massive Attack’s all-time classic by Leeds based House producer, Matt Gill. All strings and piano are re-scored and all samples are re-sampled from originals, creating a unique twist on the groups most famous track. Download for free HERE.
Here is Soul Clap’s remix of Locussolus’s ‘Next To You’, which can be found on their collaborative mixtape for DJ Kicks, which they have put together with their record label owners and good friends, Wolf + Lamb. The four DJs behind this mix (Wolf + Lamb’s Gadi Mizrahi and Zev Eisenberg, Soul Clap’s Cnyce and Elyte) recognised it as an opportunity to offer a pretty definitive look at their style. On a basic level, these guys make slow-burning, steamy house music but round it out with elements from hip-hop, R&B, and vintage pop - breakbeats, rave-y vocal snatches, and funk samples split time with warm, undulating synth and bass. Beautiful stuff, which is available for you to buy now.
Jon B joins DJ Quick for the latest track from Quik’s upcoming album, The Book Of David, which will be available on April 20th. Everything I’ve heard from it so far sounds brilliant.
Reel People and Tony Momrelle performing this beautiful Stevie Wonder cover at their recent unplugged session @ Livingston Studio in London. You can hear this on their new album, which is available NOW.
Ledisi is back!! Co-written by Led, Claude Kelly, and producer Chuck Harmony, Pieces Of Me, has her singing about what it’s like to live her life and being a woman in general. She is one of my favourite female artists - you can grab your copy off iTunes tomorrow.
Pete Rock & Smif N Wessun have joined forces to record an entire album together titled Monumental, and here is the promo video for it. The album is entirely produced by Pete Rock with features from Raekwon, Bun B, Pharoahe Monch, Styles P, Memphis Bleek, Hurricane G, Sean Price & Buckshot. Out June 28th.
Jesse Rose has invited fellow creatures of the nights Catz n Dogz along with Martin Dawson, Round Table Knights and Mason as an all-star remix cast on his non-stop musical mission. Here is my favourite from the 3 track EP, which comes courtesy of C&D and Martin Dawson. Groovy.
Some new Mobb Deep, which is once again produced by Alchemist, and features Mr. NaSir Jones. Feels like we’ve gone back to ‘94 on this one. Prodigy & Havoc mean business again.
