Recent Island Records signee, Nick Brewer blurs the lines between Hip-Hop and spoken word lyricism on powerful new track 'Further Down The River', which was recorded especially for i-D and samples an interview with Richard Cole, founder of the LifeLine Nehemiah Project in Sierra Leone. Never underestimate the power of words.
Premiered via SBTV earlier today, Nick Brewer enlists the help of director Matthew Walker to provide some powerful new visuals to accompany his recent track with JP Cooper 'Miss Online Superstar', taken from his new EP Four Miles Further. Music with a message.
Produced by long term collaborator Kirk Knight, 'Big Dusty' is the brand new single from former XXL Freshman Joey Bada$$ and the first taste of his forthcoming debut album. I've been following Joey for a while now and right from the start I've considered his flow to be amongst the very best in today's scene, but this takes things to another level and makes me more excited than ever for the full release. Pick up 'Big Dusty' on iTunes from midnight tonight and remember with DJ Premier amongst others also confirmed to be working on the project B4DA$$ is coming...
If you told me you wanted to sample the new alt-J single and use it as the foundation for a Hip-Hop record I have to admit I'd be pretty skeptical. Check out the genre flipping track below and hear experimental production at it's very best.
As described by aywy, this is he and Sh?m's 'future funk flip of an old classic'. I absolutely love it, and you can download for free below...
Premiered as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record for Radio 1, Glaswegian producer Rustie teams up with Danny Brown on new single 'Attak', which is taken from his forthcoming album 'Green Language' and scheduled for release next month via Warp Records. Absolute fire.
Something a little special from upcoming US rapper K.B. Starr, which is a vocal mix of Tom Misch's 'The Journey', which was released on Soulection earlier this year. As K.B explains: "Today I am releasing my first of some 'Vocal Mixes', which is similar to Remixes however, it will be me adding vocal renditions too tracks that I feel a connection to." This is musical perfection to my ears, but then again, anything with Tom Misch involved always is.
