Erick the Architect - Ezekiel's Wheel (Feat. George Clinton)

Erick The Architect is one of the most fresh and exciting artists out there right now... seeing him team up with Parliament-Funkadelic icon George Clinton feels like the perfect move, and the music is as good as you'd expect. You can pre-order Erick's forthcoming album 'I've Never Been Here Before' here, which drops next month and will no doubt be in contention for AOTY come the end of 2024. Love this.

Danny Brown - Y.B.P. (Feat. Bruiser Wolf)

This is one of my favourite songs that I've listened to all year... taken from Danny Brown's latest album 'Quaranta' on Warp Records, it's one of the most Detroit things you could ever wish to hear, in every sense. The whole album feels like a whole new side of Danny, and is arguably his finest body of work to-date. A must-listen.

Slauson Malone 1 - New Joy

Discovering artists like Slauson Malone 1 is the exact reason for restarting The House Of Coxhead. His style, sound and whole vibe is so refreshing on every level. Someone on YouTube described it as "a mix of Crumb, Steve Lacy, Thundercat and Brockhampton, but somehow unique and easily stands out", and it feels like a very accurate statement. Support the album here.

Aesop Rock - Aggressive Steven

Probably my favourite song from Aesop Rock's spectacular new album 'Integrated Tech Solutions', which has fast become one of the standout releases of 2023. Lyrically genius, forward-thinking production and a unique flow that just gets better the more you listen. This feels like a real moment, where Aesop is at the very top of his game. Support here.

Ghetts - Laps (Feat. Moonchild Sanelly)

Ghetts teams up with Moonchild Sanelly for the third time on 'Laps', his first single for two years. One of the UKs finest rappers is back with a bang, and we're excited to see what he has to offer in 2024. Sounds like he has fire in his belly, with album mode incoming.

Erick the Architect - Ambrosia (Feat. Channel Tres)

Over the past few years, Erick The Architect and Channel Tres are two names within the rap world, who have genuinely excited me. They have both worked with a diverse and interesting list of artists, including the likes of Jungle, Honey Dijon, Loyle Carner, and Flight Facilities, to name just a few. They both work across mutliple genres, and have become much-loved within the dance music space. So good to see them working together... 'Ambrosia' is amazing. Listen and download here.

Mick Jenkins - Show & Tell (Feat. Freddie Gibbs)

YES x 100. Two of the most exciting and consistent rappers of the past 10 years hook up for one of our favourite tracks of the year. 'Show & Tell' is an example of two rappers in their prime, riding a beat that is absolutely on point for them both. The whole album is absolutely, and you need to check it out... Mick Jenkins is the real deal for sure. Hip-Hop needs this.

Little Simz - NO THANK YOU (Album Review)

Earlier this month, I tweeted about how 10 years ago I used to do a Top 40 Albums list for my blog every year, and how recently it's felt as though my connection towards new albums just isn't the same. A lot has changed in the world, the music industry, and my life during the past decade...  then a week after my tweet, this album dropped. 'NO THANK YOU' is the first time in as long as I can remember, where I felt compelled to open my laptop and write a few words about what it means to me.

FYI Chris - Scum Of The Earth (Feat. Thick Richard)

Sometimes you don't need to say much about a record... This is one of those moments. Listen, enjoy - a fascinating piece of music, like a modern day prayer.

Little Simz - Might Bang, Might Not

Definitely bangs... My favourite tune from Little Simz's new EP 'Drop 6', which dropped earlier this month. One of the most talented MC's out there, full stop. The production, bars and delivery on this are next level... Must have listened about 50 times. Check out the whole EP here.
