Completely forgot to post this. Here are the visuals for Murkage’s new single, Paperweight, which is getting played on 1xtra by most of the DJs at the minute. Probably my favourite video of 2011 so far. Big up Manchester. Big up Murkage.
Here is the 3rd release from Klasse Recordings, which comes courtesy of the incredibly talented Johanna Knutsson; it was released on vinyl 15th March and digital 29th March. There are 3 smashing remixes by James Creed, Luca Lozano and Minilogue - you can get your copy of them all HERE. Big track from an exciting label.
Wakestock festival also released their line-up today, which will be at Cardigan Bay in North Wales, and features acts such as Example, Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32 and many more. Get your tickets HERE.
Global’s line-up was released today, featuring acts such as Chase & Status, Tinie Tempah, Carl Cox and many more. MASSIVE, and much better than Creamfields. Get your tickets HERE.
Another release from Cold Busted, and another spectacular musical journey. This time it’s courtesy of Belgian producer Sixfingerz, who has taken Trip-Hop to a whole new level, drafting in samples from all around the world and creating a sound that I’ve never heard before. Midnight Finger Gymnastics is everything I love about this label and one of the best Trip-Hop albums you will ever listen to - that is no word of a lie. Sometimes I find it hard to pick two tracks to showcase the overall sound of an album, but this one was genuinely impossible, I did try though. If you like what you hear and support music that comes straight from the heart, then you can get your copy on June 8th. I’ll be playing this non-stop, for a very long time.
Lonely C, Soul Clap’s mutated vocoder single finally has a fitting video, complete with existential angst filled robots. Directed By Dan Hellmann. Spotted over @ Discobelle.
Here is the spectacular new Oliver $ single which will be released on Made To Play’s sub-label, Play It Down. Sampling one of Moodymann’s inspirational impromptu DJ set speeches and employing a simple, thumping bassline, it narrates the more intimate moments of being out in a club. There are only going to be 200 vinyls made available, so make sure you get one if you like it. This man has always been one of my favourite House producers, and this track is the perfect example of why - can’t wait for his upcoming full length LP. Genius.
Ed dropped into 1xtra the other day to spit a few bars on CJ Beatz’ show. Going in over Jamie Woon’s debut single and one of Biggie’s all-time classics, Mr. Sheeran proves exactly why he is > your favourite artist right now. Listen and download below.
