Anthony Valadez - Underwater (Feat. Mar & The Park) (Official Video)

Official visuals for the simply stunning 'Underwater', which is the latest single to be lifted from Anthony Valadez's beautiful new album 'Just Visiting'. Saw a tweet the other day that said "R&B/Soul is struggling in 2012" - my opinion is that some people are just ignorant and aren't prepared to look far enough to find the good stuff - this is bloody next level. Kelan Philip Cohran & The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble - Roust About x Stateville

Moving away from their usual Hip-Hop/Funk sound, here are my two favourite tracks from The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's new collaborative album with Kelan Philip Cohran. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the HBE, they are a Chicago-based band featuring a drummer and eight brothers on assorted horns (trumpets, trombones, bari horn and sousaphone). Cohran is their octogenarian father, and is an important figure in music history, having played trumpet for Sun Ra, mentored Earth Wind & Fire and travelled the world in search of musical and spiritual enlightenment. Together they have created something a bit different to what most HBE fans will be used to, but it's still hypnotic and uniquely refreshing. Support.

Lauren Housley - My Baby Cry

Produced by Tom Dibb, 'My Baby Cry' is my favourite track from Manchester-based Soul singer Lauren Housley's forthcoming debut EP 'One Step Closer', which is set for release on June 11th. The 5 tracks all have a completely unique sound, but Lauren's breath-taking vocals and refreshing writing skills make this an incredibly cohesive and enjoyable listen. Her voice would sound at home alongside Soul legends such as Ray Charles, and with the evident Northern Soul influences, 'One Step Closer' brings everything that was positive about 60s/70s straight into the 21st Century. You can check out an exclusive preview of the EP HERE and follow Lauren on Twitter HERE. Love, love, love.

Hidden Jazz Quartett - High Heels (Feat. Omar)

Any new Omar is good news, but new Omar with a band the calibre of the Hidden Jazz Quartett is great news. The sax-driven jam oozes funk and will be released on June 1st with a more uptempo Lack Of Afro remix, which you can also check out after the jump. Great track.

Corinne Bailey Rae - I Would Like To Call It Beauty (Freddie Joachim Reprise)

Freddie Joachim samples one of my favourite tracks from Corrine Bailey Rae's 2010 release 'The Sea', to create a stunning Jazz-infused Hip-Hop reprise that you could just stick on repeat for hours and hours. Corrine sounds even more angelic than usual on this. Download for free HERE.

The Filthy Six - Girlfriend (Michael Jackson Cover)

Taken from their sophmore album 'The Fox', here is The Filthy Six's exquisite cover of the iconic 'Girlfriend' by Michael Jackson. The jazz group have taken MJ's 'Off The Wall' classic and revamped it into a funky piece of modern day Soul - a great cover from a wonderful album - get your copy HERE.

Raashan Ahmad - Meaning Of Love (Can't Begin To Know)

Uploaded to SoundCloud yesterday, here is a brand new Jazz-infused Hip-Hop track from Raashan Ahmad. Love the sample, love the production in general and Raashan's rhymes are on point as ever - one of the most under-rated MCs out there.

George Benson - The World Is A Ghetto (suonho Re-Edit)

Taken from his forthcoming EP on GAMM, here is Italian producer suonho's wonderful edit of George Benson's classic 'The World Is A Ghetto'. The EP will feature edits of both versions - this one of George Benson's cover from 1977 (112 BPM) and the original from War in 1972 (100 BPM). Bloody amazing.

Othello & The Pocket Change Band - Long Haul x I See You Out There (Feat. Neenah & Just J.)

AHHHH YEAH! Othello hooks up with The Pocket Change Band for a Jazz-infused Hip-Hop album called 'Translation Please', which has just been released on Milkdipper. The concept is amazing, the lyrics are flawless, his flow is effortlessly cool and the beats are stunning. The general vibe reminds me very much of Guru's Jazmatazz series, and that's a HUGE compliment. Buy HERE.
