George Benson - Lady In My Life (Michael Jackson Tribute)

Grammy-winning legend George Benson is back, and this time brings his guitar to the forefront of his new album, Guitar Man. The 12-song collection sees him return to his roots, when he was one of the World's most well respected Jazz guitarists, but as with this Michael Jackson tribute, it's clear that the thoughts of his pop fans are never far from his mind. Who needs to sing when you can make a guitar speak like this?! Nothing but love for this man.

Christian Mcbride Big Band - Brother Mister

My favourite track from Christian Mcbride's new album, The Good Feeling, which was released earlier this week. The bassist with the mostest hosts a superb aggregation of players including his own band mate Steve Wilson, multi-reedman Ron Blake, trumpeter Nicholas Payton and his close personal friend, vocalist Melissa Walker. McB arranges and conducts the project which has been a life-long dream of his. Proper old skool Jazz.

Balance & The Traveling Sound - Hey Lady

After bringing you their Dilla cover the other day, here is my favourite track from Balance & The Traveling Sound's new EP, Departure, which you download for free HERE! Their cover of Won't Do was amazing, but the fact that they are producing their own material (of this quality) excites more than anything. They have a ridiculous amount of talent and the effortless fusion of Hip-Hop, Jazz, Soul & Funk without a doubt makes these guys one of my favourite discoveries of 2011.

Balance & The Traveling Sound - Won't Do (J Dilla Cover)

WOW! Here is a live performance of a stunning Dilla cover from Balance & The Traveling Sound, which is going to be on their upcoming Departure EP (out tomorrow). Always worries me when people take on one of my favourite Dilla joints, but this accumulation of Soul and Jazz, which is reminiscent of the Motown era with a raw Hip-Hop edge to it, is nothing short of mind-blowing. One of the best tributes I've ever seen to my hero and the best to ever do it. Currently on my 5th listen, and still going. More info HERE.

Jesse Futerman - Driva'man

Been a massive fan of Jesse Futerman ever since Gilles Peterson introduced me to him a few months ago, so it made me very happy to see that the 19-year old Canadian producer has blessed us with a new release entitled The Super Basement EP. The EP is a refined collection of 6 beautifully crafted and constructed tracks, delving deep through strings and brass to deliver a haunting, yet eloquently soulful experience. Genuinely one of the most exciting young men in music. You would be stupid to not get your FREE download.

Out Da Box TV - Roy Ayers (Interview)

Whilst on the New York leg of his current tour, 70 year old Jazz/Soul legend Roy Ayers sat down with the ODBTV crew and spoke about some incredibly interesting subjects. The main topic of discussion was around Hip-Hop sampling and the support that he has for ALL artists who love and sample his music - one of the most talented, refreshing and down to earth in music (even after being in the game for 50 years). Great interview - hero.

Zo! - Playing Your Game, Baby (Feat. Anthony David) x Marzipan (Feat. Eric Roberson & Phonte)

Two of my favourite tracks from Zo!'s new EP, ...Just Visiting Three. The Foreign Exchange never release projects that are anything less than spectacular, and this one is no exception. Anthony David actually sounds like Barry White on PYGB, showing us a side of him that I have never heard before. On Marzipan, the soothing harmonies of Eric & 'Te go perfectly with the soulful/jazzy production of Zo!, who for me is one of the most consistent, talented and under-rated producers in the world. Without doubt the best free download of 2011 - I would pay good money for this. The 3rd part in this stunning series is available to download HERE. Two words; on repeat.

Rise - Shine Down

Here is my favourite track from this Mancunian beat technician/crate digger/musician's debut album, Messages. The album is a deep, spiritual Jazz record with splashes of Hip Hop and heavily influenced by Pharoah Sanders, Alice Coltrane, Madlib, Strata East & Black Jazz. Super dope.
