Some cool visuals for Fenech-Soler's catchy track, Golden Sun - the video was directed by Alex et Ol, who was the winner of the Genero Music Video Competition. You can catch Fenech on tour with Example in November/December. Hit the jump for all the dates.
So yeah, whilst everyone is raving on about Cole World leaking, this is the Hip-Hop album that I've been been excited to hear most this year. For those of you who don't know who Phonte is, he was 1/3 of Little Brother and is 1/2 of The Foreign Exhange, but Charity Starts At Home sees 'Te go solo for the first time in his career. Not many artists can claim to have a flawless discography, but Phonte does; he has this incredibly unique ability to go from creating the most soothing R&B music to spitting some of the most ferocious bars you are ever likely to hear, with consumate ease. Hit the jump to see the tracklist, enjoy this Stro Elliott produced track and pre-order HERE.
Charity Starts At Home is everything I love about Phonte in one album. Charity Starts At Home has beautiful verse upon beautiful verse. Charity Starts At Home has an eclectic selection of features. Charity Starts At Home has the most stunning production. Charity Starts At Home has real subject matters. Charity Starts At Home is Hip-Hop perfection.
Miguel Migs has just released his third album, Outside The Skyline, which is a follow up to his 2007 release, Those Years. The album follows in the footsteps of his two previous releases, bringing together sounds and influences from a wide variety of genres and cultures; in this case, early soul, dub, jazz, reggae, funk, disco and house. As Miguel explains, “I take inspiration from everything around me. Its not about trends or what’s fashionable, its about creative expression, quality, emotion and artistic integrity.” - I love that. Showcasing an extraordinary line up of creative and internationally renowned artists – Migs’ reputation is such that, when it came to recording Outside The Skyline, he was able to pull together some impressive collaborators including original disco diva Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King, reggae legends Capleton, Half-Pint and Freddie McGregor, first lady of musicianship Meshell Ndegeocello, Berlin based singer Georg Levin and bossa nova phenomenon Bebel Gilberto. Below you can hear the stunning track with Miss King and buy what is one of the best House releases of 2011 HERE.
Here are two of my favourite tracks from one of the most highly anticpated Hip-Hop albums of the past 10 years. Lots of people were expecting Cole to fail with his debut album, but with the amount of talent he has and with Jay as his mentor, that was never going to happen really, was it? Cole World: The Sideline Story finally drops September 27th - definitely worth the wait.
SBTV catches up with the talented 12 year old James Anderson, who takes on Nobody's Perfect by Jessie J, and absolutely smashes it. Needs a lot of work, but he has a naturally pure voice, really cool harmonies and is definitely one to watch, until he hits puberty at least anyway. Follow him on Twitter HERE.
Here are two of my favourite tracks from the first release on a newly formed label called Cold Bites. They are a re-edit, remixes, mash up style label whose releases will be available exclusively at Junodownload - the artists will be taking classics (sometimes hidden gems) and putting a modern day electronic twist on them, whilst still keeping the soulful and funky elements that made them hits all those years ago. Love this, so much. 16th November is the release date.
The ever brilliant True Tiger boys put their own unique twist on Dappy's debut solo single, which is currently sitting at number one on the iTunes chart. Always thought he was a clown, but this is infinitely better than anything he has released as part of N-Dubz, and this remix is massive. Get your copy HERE.
Directed and edited by Morgan Keyz of SBTV, here are the official visuals for the second track from Kano & Mikey J's upcoming mixtape, Not 4 The A List. Kano sounds hungry and fierce right now, and I like it. You can download this and Random Antics and Alien on Mikey J's site, HERE.
Premiered on Target's show last night, here is the massive title track from Random Impulse's forthcoming 4 track EP, which includes features from Dot Rotten, Bluey Robinson and Ed Sheeran. This guy has been around for a long time now, but as he admits, it's taken him a while to perfect his sound and successfully bring together all of the influences he has gained from a wide variety of genres. Although he has produced some big tunes in the past, this is by far and away the best to date, and has made me very excited to hear the EP. He's on a roll right now...
