Pete Rock Tells All: The Stories Behind His Classic Records

Similar to the DJ Premier article, Complex recently caught up with legendary Hip-Hop producer Pete Rock to find out some of the stories behind his greatest hits (solo, CL and productions). Complex always seem to smash it when it comes to stuff like this, and it's safe to say that this article is no expection. I also have no doubt that he will be adding a few more classics to the vault on June 28th when his collaboration album with Smif N Wessun finally drops. One of the all-time greats - arguably the greatest. Read the full article HERE.

Homework - Rally Racquet Club

Here is the brilliant title track from Homework's upcoming EP, which will be available June 20th on Jesse Rose's label, Made To Play. These guys never disappoint - so much soul and groove.

Maverick Sabre - Let Me Go

Some cool visuals for Maverick Sabre's debut single, which was release June 5th on Mercury. Lots of love for this tune, and think he is one of the most talented new artists in this country right now.

Ed Sheeran - Small Bump (Live on Jo Whiley)

Earlier tonight Mr. Sheeran dropped in to speak to Jo Whiley and do a little session for the Radio 2 listeners, which included a performance of mine and his favourite track from his highly anticipated debut album, which will be released on September 19th. I have been lucky enough to hear about half of the album and can assure you that it is nothing short of spectacular. This song in particular pulls on my heart strings every single time I hear it. Stunning.

Wretch 32 - Don't Go (Feat. Josh Kumra)

Here is the 3rd single from Wretch 32's upcoming debut album, Black & White, which will be out August 14th on Ministry's sister label, Levels Entertainment. Everything about this is completely different to the two previous singles, but it's just as catchy and easy to love. Could very well be one of the albums of 2011 at this rate.

Bon Iver - Michicant

Having brought you the Ed Sheeran cover earlier today, here is my favourite track from Bon Iver's self-titled sophmore album, which is a follow up to his critically acclaimed debut; For Emma, Forever Ago. The album is only 10 tracks long, but that's refreshing to see - I have a lot of time for an artist that is willing to back their talent and have faith in their ability to tell a story in just 40 minutes, rather than include 8 album fillers that have no relevance to the storyline. Too many people seem to do that these days. This is a simply stunning release and will without doubt be one of the best albums of 2011 - you can stream it in full HERE.

Drake - Marvins Room

Another new piece from Drake's upcoming sophmore album, Take Care, which is set to be released later this Summer. As with Dreams Money Can Buy, I prefer this to most of the stuff off Thank Me Later. I actually like Drake, but hate the label he is signed to.

Ed Sheeran - Skinny Love (Cover)

As part of his Biz session for The Sun, Ed Sheeran decided to cover Skinny Love by Bon Iver, which was recently made commercially well-known by Birdy. I know Ed has been a Bon Iver fan for years, so this cover will have meant a lot, and I think it's safe to say that he did it justice (as always). Watch the rest of the session, HERE. A-Team is out in 3 days. Download the MP3 of Skinny Love HERE.

Derrick Carter - Essential Mix

A couple of days ago legendary Chicago House producer/DJ Derrick Carter let loose a two hour mix of jacking house, whilst giving frequent nods to old school Disco, Soul and Jazz. I genuinely believe this could be my new favourite Essential Mix of all-time. Listen and download before, then make your own mind up. Genius.

Parov Stelar - Diamonds

Jazzy, funky and smooth; here is the exceptional new Parov Stelar track taken from his latest EP, La Fete. Nothing but beautiful music.
