Aloe performing ‘I Need A Dollar’ during a studio session for Stones Throw back in June. Try and find me a better singer on the planet right now. You can’t.
A new and enchanting House tune from Huxley & Sanna. Huxley has been one of my favourite producers this year, and this proves exactly why. Vocal is stunning.
Learning To Swim is a track taken from Mikill Pane’s latest freEp, Shatter. I only came across his music a few months ago, and have been nothing but impressed by everything I have heard thus far. He raps over obscure and unique beats that wouldn’t necessarily be classed as stereotypical Hip-Hop beats and always tells a story, which is something that not enough rappers seem to be able to do these days. Look out for him featuring on one of my favourite tracks from Ed Sheeran’s collaborative EP, which will be available to buy January. You can download this EP here and follow him on Twitter - he’s not only talented, but also a very funny fella too.
So Far To Go is an international art contest and a tribute to the loved and missed recording artist and producer, J Dilla. Artists can submit their original artwork inspired by J Dilla. The top voted contestant’s artwork will be produced as a poster and limited edition Giclee print series signed by the artist and Dilla’s mother, Ma Dukes. Proceeds will be donated to the J Dilla Foundation. Above is my personal favourite and you can vote for yours here.
The beautiful Carlitta Durand follows up the success of the Doug & Patty EP with another Christmas eve release, Nostalgic Nights. Her voice and lyrical talent is so refreshing - I love this woman. Download the EP here.
Here is the intro for Jansport J’s upcoming instrumental mixtape, which will be up for free download on January 11th. Love this and his last mixtape, MoveMeants, was one of my favourites of 2010. Jasmine is on the cover/intro vocals.
This is a track taken from Asher Roth & Nottz Raw’s collaborative EP and features Chicago MC, Rhymefest. Enjoyed this much more than Roth’s debut album.
My favourite track from the Gorillaz’ new album, which was created entirely on an iPad and can be downloaded for free, from here. Apparently it was recorded in Oakland on 30th October and the train station announcement was recorded at LA Train Station. Technology ay?
