High Focus' very own Verb T pays tribute to Gang Starr legend Guru in the only way he knows possible. This is a beautiful tribute and another example of how this label continues to push UK Hip-Hop forward more than ever before.

Two years ago today Hip-Hop lost one of its true legends - Keith Edward Elam, better known as Guru, 1/2 of GangStarr and the mind behind the ground-breaking Jazzmatazz series, sadly went into cardiac arrest and, following surgery, fell into a coma. For me, GangStarr could well be the greatest Hip-Hop duo of all-time; the chemistry he and Preemo had was simply untouchable, and together they created some of the genre's most memorable music, which is why the way that their friendship ended was so hard to stomach for most fans. Check out some of my favourite tracks from Guru after the jump, and be sure to remember him for all the right reasons today. Love.

Here is one of my favourite tracks from Blame One’s new album, Endurance. Last year he released one of the best Hip-Hop albums of 2009 with Days Chasing Days and it seems like he’s gone and done the same again this year. The production on both albums have been second to none and for me he is one of the best rappers to emerge from the past few years. If you love Hip-Hop, then you will love this album.
