This week has been a great week for UK music, mainly because of the well deserved record deals for Jacob Banks (Atlantic) and George The Poet (Island), who in my eyes are two of the most talented artists we have produced in quite some time. Expect some more music to drip out over the next few months and then debut albums to follow in 2014. 'Doing OK' drops August 25th, pre-order HERE.
Today saw Manchester-based powerhouse The Warehouse Project unleash their 2013 line-up on the world, which caters to every music lovers needs at some point along the way. Tickets go on sale Friday 26th July at 9am, so hit the jump to find your favourite nights, get your card at the ready, because these will all be selling out fast. This weekend saw Radio 1 & 1Xtra legend Mistajam release his highly anticipated compilation/mix album 'Speakerbox', which is a showcase of his much loved shows on the BBC airwaves and his incredible live shows. If you're a fan of music, then I will be very surprised if this doesn't get your body moving and your head bouncing - no feet shuffling though, please. This weekend it was announced that upcoming star Context would be added to the forthcoming Wretch 32 tour of the UK, which already includes support from the incredible Jacob Banks & George The Poet. Seeing Wretch on his own is a show in itself, but with support from these three artists, it's a tour that you do not want to miss if you are a fan of music. Last night saw BBC 6 Music team up with Hype Machine for a special show, in which they revealed the most blogged about music artists so far in 2013, counting down the Top 20, with Tom Robinson on the controls. Along with interviews from Dev from Hype Machine & Ed Sholl from Future Classic, it was also my pleasure to introduce Disclosure as the #1 most blogged artist of the year so far. Award winning singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, who is currently on tour with Taylor Swift in the USA, has teamed up with C.F. Martin & Co to produce his own custom made guitar, which is now available to pre-order now. All proceeds will be going to EACH, a Children's Hospice in East Anglia - you can out more information on the work EACH carry out HERE and you can find your local Martin dealer HERE. June 20th saw Bacardi Beginnings kick off in style, announcing Bipolar Sunshine & Rudimental as their first pairing of 2013. For those who don't know, the project will be bringing together three established acts and three hot emerging acts to push the boundaries of music releases as we know them. Each pairing will be given a unique brief around the creation, production and experience of music, while also releasing original tracks together. Thursday 11th July will see Rudimental & Bipolar Sunshine come together to write, record, release, rehearse and perform an original track, all within 24 hours. Starting at a studio in London at 7am, the process will culminate in their performance of their Bacardi Beginnings track at a gig at The Vaults in Waterloo, London at 7pm. Newton Faulkner, one of the most talented musicians in the UK, is set to release his fourth album later this year (August 26th). As well as naming the album 'Studio Zoo', Newton has teamed up with his label Sony Music for a special never before done project, which will see the whole recording process televised online for all of his adoring fans to watch, 24/7. Five weeks, four cameras, one man, lots of guitars, and a few special guests. Watch it all HERE.
