Brainstory - Nobody But You

Sounding like it could be straight from the 60s or 70s, but also managing to sound fresh as f*ck!! Big Crown Records never seem to miss, and they continue to really keep the soul alive. You can get your copy of the 45 here.

Slauson Malone 1 - New Joy

Discovering artists like Slauson Malone 1 is the exact reason for restarting The House Of Coxhead. His style, sound and whole vibe is so refreshing on every level. Someone on YouTube described it as "a mix of Crumb, Steve Lacy, Thundercat and Brockhampton, but somehow unique and easily stands out", and it feels like a very accurate statement. Support the album here.

Black Pumas - Mrs. Postman

The latest single from Black Pumas' latest album 'Chronicles of a Diamond', which dropped a few weeks ago. A great band, a great song, a great video, and a great album. Absolutely love the piano work in this one, but then again... what isn't there to love about the Black Pumas? Get the album in all formats here.

Nic Fanciulli & Calussa - Vente

After two strong releases in a row on Defected, Nic Fanciulli returns with Miami duo Calussa for a super catchy latin-inspired anthem. A lot of hype on this one since his Ibiza set with Butch, and you can see why... makes a cold, wet winter's day feel like summer. Check it out here.

Aesop Rock - Aggressive Steven

Probably my favourite song from Aesop Rock's spectacular new album 'Integrated Tech Solutions', which has fast become one of the standout releases of 2023. Lyrically genius, forward-thinking production and a unique flow that just gets better the more you listen. This feels like a real moment, where Aesop is at the very top of his game. Support here.

Kitty Amor - Solitude (Feat. Nathan Nicholson)

One of the hottest names in the Afro House world, Kitty Amor launches her brand new label 'Mahaba' with this stunning single entitled 'Solitude'. This track premiered in the 'Who Is Kitty Amor' documentary, and has been stuck in my head ever since... those drums & that rumbling bassline are hypnotising. Support here.

Murkage Dave - Violence In Me (Feat. Jaykae)

We've been posting about the Murkage cartel since 2011 on The House of Coxhead, so to see Dave's progression as an artist during that time has been truly incredible. He's gone from being the frontman of a electronic collective throwing amazing parties in Manchester, to becoming a truly thought-provoking poet, who writes extremely powerful social commentary. His whole new album 'The City Needs... Part Deux' is brilliant and a must listen, but for now make sure you check out this huge collab with Jaykae.

Mustafa - Name of God

One of the most stunning pieces of music in 2023. Sudanese-Canadian poet Mustafa has created a masterpiece with 'Name of God', expressing deep sadness and emotion in such a beautiful and artistic way. Very rare these days to come across a song that you put on repeat, but I'm about 10 listens in, and it just keeps getting better.
