DJ Muggs from the legendary Cypress Hill calls on Grime pioneer Dizzee Rascal for his new Dubstep influenced single. Not what I was expecting when I heard these two were collaborating, but it's a pleasant surprise that definitely works. Hard.
Released today on Heavy Artillery Records, here is the title track and my favourite piece from Arkasia's new EP, Vanity. The structure of the song is second to none and I have nothing to love for the vocal. Get your copy HERE.
Following the worldwide success of his 2008 cover album 'Soul', Seal has teamed up with producers Dave Foster & Trevor Horn to bring us the brilliant 'Soul 2'. His cover of Let's Stay Together by Al Green was the lead single, but it's the Teddy Pendergrass and Bill Withers reworks that have caught my attention after the first few listens. As he explains:
"In my twenty years on a journey in the music industry, two things remain constants, the voice and more importantly, the song. I continue to make music because of the chance that this day could indeed be the day I write another great song or have the opportunity to sing one. The songs on Soul 2 are a natural evolution in the arc of soul music from the songs on the first Soul album - and they are all-time classics."
A must have for any music lover. Out on November 21st - pre-order HERE.
My favourite track from Snow Patrol's highly anticipated sixth studio album, Fallen Empires, which is set to be released on November 14th. A simply stunning piece of music from an album that a lot of heart and passion has clearly gone into over the past three years. Pre-order your copy HERE.
After some time away from the band perusing a solo career, Travie McCoy is back at work with the Gym Class Heroes as they ready the release of their fourth studio album and their first album in three years. Below is my favourite track from a rather underwhelming listen. Out November 15th in America and January 30th (2012) in the UK - work that one out?! Anyway, pre-order HERE.
Miguel Migs releases the video for 'Everybody' featuring disco legend, Evelyn "Champagne" King and invites you to join in on a fantastical retro-tastic soul tinged party reminiscent of the halcyon disco days gone by. Everybody is the first single from Migs' stunning third studio album, Outside The Skyline, which is out now on Om Records and features guest appearances from Bebel Gilberto, Meshell Ndegeocello, Capelton, Half Pint, Freddie McGregor, Georg Levin and longtime collaborators, Aya and Lisa Shaw. The remix package features some of the most exciting producers to emerge in future disco/house genre including Boston's Soul Clap, top dance charter Aki Bergen, Defected's Hardsoul and of course, Miguel Migs himself. One of my favourite House/Disco tunes of 2011.
Andrew Chambers brings you an exclusive behind the scenes look at the filming of the video for Example's latest single, which is once again directed by the brilliant Adam Powell. Midnight Run is out December 4th - pre-order HERE.
Hideout Festival Croatia made its spectacular debut this summer - a beachside event in a stunning and unique location. The first-time event was a complete sell-out and made an outstanding entrance onto the summer festival scene. Feedback from attendees, artists and clubbing partners has been phenomenal and within days of Hideout 2011 having ended, talk of Hideout 2012 begun. The team are very excited to be currently putting the wheels in motion, preparing to bring you an exceptional Hideout 2012 and can reveal it is already set to be even more phenomenal than the last. So far, artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Annie Mac, Skream, Jamie Jones, Skrillex, Camo & Krooked, Julio Bashmore, DJ Fresh, CVS and MANY MORE have all been confirmed - you can hit the jump to see the other cofirmed artists and be sure to keep checking the Hideout site for lots of massive additions in the coming months.
Flux Pavilion and Doctor P, best friends and two of the World's most well-known Dubstep producers, join forces for a slightly different sound to that of their usual work. Superbad finds them combining 70s style vocals and a jazzy horn section while still maintaining their dubstep roots - the two styles mesh nicely to give the track a catchy, almost disco feel. Currently Zane Lowe's single of the week, I can't stop listening to this.
After the huge success of Fedde Le Grand's remix, Tiesto has decided to put his own unique twist on the massive second single from Coldplay's latest album, Mylo Xyloto. Not usually into Tiesto's music, but he has transformed this into something that grabs your attention and will work extremely well live.
