Clement Marfo & The Frontline - Overtime (Feat. Ghetts)

Some very sick visuals for Clement Marfo & The Frontline's new single, which features the ever ferocious Ghetts. I've got a lot of time for CM&TF and what they're bringing to the table, and this track is no exception. Clement's lyrics are spot on, the chorus is huge and the production ticks all the right boxes - what more do you want? Out November 14th.

Jedi Mind Tricks - Target Practice

Here is the first track from Jedi Mind Tricks' upcoming album, Violence Begets Violence, which is their first release since 2008. There is a lot of talk around the issue that Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind isn't handling the production on this album, but Hypnotist Beats does his thing, and this still has that classic JMT sound. Album out October 25th - tracklist after the jump.

Porter Robinson - Unison (Knife Party Remix)

Released earlier today (September 13th), here is one of my favourite pieces from the highly anticipated full debut release from Porter Robinson and Skrillex's label, OWSLA. As you would expect from any signee of Skrillex's, Porter has a very unique and bass heavy sound, but his production still remains thoughful and ahead of the game - add in Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen's electro-house input, and you have this little beauty. You can support both Porter and Skrillex by purchasing the EP in its entirety, HERE - a definite must have.

Excision - Execute

My favourite track from Excision's new album, X-Rated, which was released yesterday on Mau5trap. A very sick intro, mind-blowing bass and haunting sounds throughout - if you like what you hear, then you should definitely pick up a copy of the album ASAP. Out on Beatport NOW!

R.I.P. DJ Mehdi

There has been no official statement yet, but earlier today Ed Banger Records have confirmed that DJ Mehdi has passed away. Over the past 15 years the Frenchman remained relatively underground, but the influence he and his music has had on Electronic music as a whole is simply incredible. He has an exceptional back catalogue of his own and has collaborted with the likes of Daft Punk, Cassius, MC Solaar, Chromeo and many more; pushing the boundaries, mixing Hip-Hop and Electronic music better than anyone else, creating the most beautiful disco-infused material that has become the sound of French Electronic music. The cause of his death is unknown, but there reports are that he fell to his death from a roof - my thoughts go out to everyone at Ed Banger Records, his family and of course his beautiful wife, Fafi. Below are two of my favourite Mehdi remixes from the past few years - forever missed.

UPDATE: DJ Mag are reporting that he was on the roof of his home in Paris with a group of friends celebrating the birthday of Riton, his partner in Carte Blanche, when the roof collapsed. A number of others are reported to have been seriously injured in the tragic accident. Riton, aka Henry Smithson, is said to be the only person not to have fallen through the roof.

SebastiAn - Love In Motion (Feat. Mayer Hawthorne) (Skrillex Remix)

AH YEAH, another remix from Skrillex, and another banger! Taking on one of my favourites from SebastiAn's new album, this really showcases his versality and willingness to think outside the box. He uses Mayer's vocals perfectly, and the drop is as monstrous as ever. Get your copy on Beatport HERE.

J. Cole - Power 99 Freestyle

Spotted over @SoulCulture, here is Cole freestyling over I'ma Boss & Otis for DJ Cosmic Kev on Power 99. Reaching for album verses, this has got me even more excited for September 27th - what a scary amount of talent and lyrical prowess on the mic.

WIN! Two Example Tickets for November/December 2011 Tour

So, after picking up his second number one single with Stay Awake last weekend and with Playing In The Shadows topping the album chart today, The House Of Coxhead is giving you the chance to see Example live in concert. His upcoming November/December tour is basically sold out, but if you win this competition, you and a friend will be given two tickets/guestlist places for a date of your choice (not including London) on his biggest tour to date. All you need to do to enter is register to The House Of Coxhead (top right) and then send an e-mail to tjc89209@hotmail.co.uk with your real name, Twitter name and answer to the following question:

Everyone knows Example is a big sneaker head, but exactly how many pairs of trainers does he own?
(if nobody answers correctly, the person with the closest answer wins)

Congratulations to the winner, @Christy_Example, who was the only person to get the answer correct.

COMPETITION CLOSED!

(another one on the way sooner, rather than later...)

Balance & The Traveling Sound - Won't Do (J Dilla Cover)

WOW! Here is a live performance of a stunning Dilla cover from Balance & The Traveling Sound, which is going to be on their upcoming Departure EP (out tomorrow). Always worries me when people take on one of my favourite Dilla joints, but this accumulation of Soul and Jazz, which is reminiscent of the Motown era with a raw Hip-Hop edge to it, is nothing short of mind-blowing. One of the best tributes I've ever seen to my hero and the best to ever do it. Currently on my 5th listen, and still going. More info HERE.
